Terje Äkke has been teaching at International School of Estonia since she began her teaching career over 15 years ago. She has taught multiple grade levels in our elementary school programme. She also spent three years teaching MYP Math and Science.
She graduated cum laude from Tallinn Pedagogical University, Estonia, after fulfilling a 5-year study programme in Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education, including one academic year and student teaching programme at Smith College, Massachusetts, USA. She is highly trained in the International Baccalaureate (IB) system. She served as the PYP Diploma coordinator at ISE from 2008-2013. She successfully completed the two–year CEESA/ECIS Literacy Coaching Training Programme. She holds membership in Estonian Reading Association. Working with Ms. Torim, she has conducted several Literacy workshops for parents and teachers. Student teachers from universities and teachers from Estonian schools visit her classroom every year to observe and learn the best pedagogical practices.
She is a co-author of the book, Implementation of Integrated Learning in Preschool and Kindergarten published in 2013. She enjoys reading, ballroom dancing and spending time with her family. She has three lovely daughters.
