ISE: A Global Learning Community

Located just a 10-minute walk from Tallinn’s Old Town and a 5-minute drive from the airport, the International School of Estonia (ISE) resides in a historic two-story building originally built in the late 1800s.

Once a stable for the Czar’s cavalry and later a cooking school, the building now houses 19 classrooms, specialized teaching areas for science, art, music, technology, and languages, and spaces for approximately 170 students.

The school boasts a gymnasium, playgrounds designed for developmental play, and easy access to exceptional sports facilities, including the Tallinna Spordihall and Tallinna Kalevi Tenniseklubi. These venues, just steps away, offer students access to professional-grade tennis courts, running tracks, and training areas.

Outdoor play is integral to school life, with spaces tailored to encourage physical activity and learning. Facilities include basketball and football courts, swings, and recreation areas for all age groups.

The Learning Commons, remodeled in 2007, offers spaces for independent and group study and instruction, research and reading experiences. Its 10,000-title library and growing digital resources serve students, parents, and staff alike and make up the largest English schoo library collection in Estonia.

Technology is at the core of ISE’s curriculum, supported by a 1:1 iPad programme in the PYP and Bring Your Own Device programme in MYP and DP, fast WiFi across the campus, and cutting-edge digital tools such as LCD projectors, Apple TVs, cameras, and video conferencing equipment, preparing students for university and the modern workplace. We are the only school in Estonia participating in the “Digital Bridges” program.

A welcoming cafeteria provides daily hot meals with free breakfast and reasonably priced healthy options for lunch, ensuring students of all ages are well-nourished and ready to thrive.

At ISE, history meets innovation to create a space where students learn, grow, and prepare for the future.
